My mask is moving while I sleep. How can I avoid this?

Make sure the mask is properly placed on the face and use adjustable straps to secure it. Make sure the mask is snug, but not overly tight. Try adjusting the straps while lying down because the shape of your face changes with gravity.

My mask does not fit correctly. How can I receive a more secure seal?

How do I adapt to my machine's pressure settings?
Try using the machine for a longer period of time before going to sleep or even when not trying to fall asleep to get used to how it feels. Use the ramp button to lower the pressure and slowly work back up to the prescribed pressure. Increase Flex/EPR to make it easier to exhale. Call a Sleep Advisor for assistance. 

When do I need to replace my supplies?

It is recommended that your mask, headgear, tubing, and filters be replaced every 90 days. Nasal cushions should be replaced every 2 weeks and full face cushions every 30 days. If you are utilizing the humidifier unit, the water chamber should be replaced every 6 months.

What are cushions/interfaces?

A cushion or interface is the soft silicone on your mask that produces a seal. 

How often should I clean my equipment?

All supplies should be cleaned on a daily basis with the exception of the headgear. Wash this as needed. Hand wash only. 

What should I use to clean my equipment?

Purdoux Mask & Hose Soap. Rinse thoroughly with distilled water and allow to air dry. Soaps can be purchased here: (Unscented) (Scented)

What kind of water should I use?

Distilled water only for use in the water chamber.

What happens if I need to leave on a vacation? Do I have to take distilled water with me?

Continue PAP use as prescribed by your physician. If you are flying, it is a medical device and should be a carry on. If you will not have access to distilled water at your destination, you will have to bring your own distilled water. 

Do I need to use a converter?

A travel adapter may be needed depending on the country to which you are traveling. 

Why can't I use a power strip/cord?

By using a power strip or power cord, the PAP machine is not receiving enough power and it will destroy the motor.

Can I use tap water?

Tap water should never be used in the humidifier unit. It contains bacteria and chemicals that can damage the machine and can lead to medical complications.

I am going on vacation out of the country, will my machine work, and will it record my usage?

The machine will work properly on 110 and 220 V. A travel adapter may be needed depending on the country being visited. The PAP will record usage on its internal memory and SD card. If you have a modem, the machine will transmit the usage information once plugged in once you return from vacation.

Will my mask fit the type of machine I am using?

All masks are universal that will fit any PAP machine. (Limitations include the ResMed AirMini™ paired with certain masks types.)

Can I fully submerge my heated tubing in water without damaging the heating element?

While this can be done on occasion, the continual submersion can compromise the heating element on the tube.

Can I use vinegar to clean my supplies?

No. The use of vinegar can cause your supplies to deteriorate faster than anticipated. Soaps can be purchased here: (Unscented) (Scented)

Do the CPAP mask wipes contain a disinfecting agent?

The ingredients in the mask wipes are as followed: Actylol; Acytol, p-Menth-1, 8-diene, Polyoxyethylene Sorbitan Monolaurate, 2- methylisothiazol-3(2H)-one 3-iodo-2-propynyl-butylcarbamate and water.

What is the mask/headgear/tubing made of?

The materials differ based on the manufacturer and the mask type. Here are the general materials that are used:

      • Mask Frame – Polycarbonate
      • Mask Cushion – Silicone
      • Mask Headgear – Polyurethane or Urethane Foam/Lycra
      • Tubing -- Silicone

Is this mask/tubing/filter compatible with my specific machine?

Masks are a universal fit and come packaged with headgear. Tubing and filters are specific to the machine. 

Where is my product manufactured?

Respironics is made in the USA. ResMed is made in Australia.
